What can I expect when I attend worship?

In a typical worship service, you will participate in:

Praise

We focus our attention on God and away from ourselves, especially through song and instrumental music.

Confession

In the presence of our holy God we realize our own sinfulness. When we confess, we do so for ourselves and for the church as a whole.

Assurance

Scripture assures us of God’s inestimable love.

Illumination

We pray for the Holy Spirit to open our hearts to receive what God is saying to us through Scripture and its interpretation.

Word

God’s Word is interpreted through Spirit-inspired speech, drama, music, dance, or other forms of communication.

Prayer

In many varied forms--for ourselves, others and our world--prayer is our response to the living Word.

Thanksgiving

We offer ourselves and our gifts to God and the building of the Kingdom.

Sending forth to Serve

When we leave the sanctuary, our worship continues as we live each day in prayer and mission, in our home, our work, our study, our recreation: glorifying and enjoying God forever.
